The third Franco-Mexican Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation, hosted by the French Embassy in Mexico and the National Council for Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACYT), has taken place in San Luis Potosi on May 29th and 30th.

Apart from participating at one of the round table during the first day of the forum on the tools for international collaboration, CNRS has also taken this opportunity to sign two agreements with its Mexican partners.

The first agreement signed is the creation of a new International Associated Laboratory (LIA) in astrophysics with, in France, the Aix-Marseille University and the National Centre for Space Studies and in Mexico, the National University of Mexico (UNAM) and the CONACYT. The second agreement is the renewal of a LIA in chemistry that has been existing from 2014 with, in France, the University Paul Sabatier, and in Mexico, the UNAM, the CONACYT, the CINVESTAV (Center for Research and Advanced Studies), the CIO (Center of research in optics) and the University of Morelos State.

The Forum, opened by a conference given by Cedric Villani, has been an opportunity to exchange, during two days, on the future of the cooperation between our two countries. French and Mexican institutions involved exchanged ideas on the best practices and the improvements to be done in this matter.
During the second day, focused on parallel sessions, CNRS could put forward its leading role in the cooperation activities such as Mathematics, Oceans or Social and Human Sciences.

The next Forum should be organized in France, in 2020, with a new Mexican administration (Presidential election on July 1st this year).
