Results of the Call for Joint Research Proposals 2018 between CNRS (France) and University of Toronto

Now in our second year of Call for Joint Research Proposals (PRC), the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) in France and the University of Toronto (U of T) are pleased to announce the awardees from this 2018 Joint Call.

International Associated Laboratory « AMADEUS - AMADEUS : Advancing Methods in Ancient DNA for Environmental and Evolution History”

Over the last ten years main technological innovations enabled to sequence the first human genome and extirpated species. The Center for GeoGenetic of the University of Copenhagen is a part of these few laboratories which have contributed to many of these technological advances. For example it was within this lab that the first human genome has been sequenced in 2010.

Launch of a joint international laboratory between the CNRS and Hitachi High Technologies Corporation

French researchers and Japanese engineers have joined forces to develop a new electron microscope that can scan the properties of matter on very small scales of time and space. The Centre d’élaboration de matériaux et d’études structurales (CEMES) of the CNRS and the Hitachi High Technologies Corporation (HHT) will formalize the creation of a joint laboratory on July 2, 2018, the first between the CNRS and a foreign company.

The third Franco-Mexican Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation

The third Franco-Mexican Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation, hosted by the French Embassy in Mexico and the National Council for Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACYT), has taken place in San Luis Potosi on May 29th and 30th.

Apart from participating at one of the round table during the first day of the forum on the tools for international collaboration, CNRS has also taken this opportunity to sign two agreements with its Mexican partners.

The renewal of the Georgia Tech-CNRS UMI

The signing of the renewal of the International Joint Research Unit (UMI – unite mixte internationale) Georgia Tech-CNRS between the Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta in the USA), Georgia Tech Lorraine campus (Metz in France) and the CNRS was celebrated on March 8th. The ceremony was hosted by the Acting deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy, Kristina Kvien.
