Director of the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences
A director of studies at the EHESS (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales), Patrice Bourdelais is a historian and demographer. He began his career as a university lecturer before joining the CNRS in 1978. As a researcher, he specializes in population dynamics, epidemics, ageing and public health. From 1987 to 1993, he co-directed the CRH (Centre de Recherches Historiques, EHESS/CNRS). He was then named director of studies at the EHESS, in charge of PhD programs in Health, Population and Social Policies, and of coordinating the Erasmus Mundus European masters and doctoral programs. He has directed the INSHS since April 2010.
