Ali Charara

An exceptional grade professor at the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), Ali Charara specialises in automatic control and robotics, focusing on the observation and control of intelligent/autonomous vehicles. After working as a CNRS project manager and then deputy scientific director (2003-2006), he served as deputy scientific director of the i-Trans competitiveness cluster (2005-2009) and later as a member of its board of trustees (2013-2017). He directed the Heudiasyc laboratory (Heuristics and Diagnostics for Complex Systems, CNRS / UTC) from 2008 to 2017, and in 2009 helped found the Federation of Research Heterogeneous Systems in Interaction (CNRS / UTC), which he headed until 2018. He also co-founded the MS2T (Control of Technological Systems of Systems) laboratory of excellence in 2011, serving as its director until 2018, and in 2017 the joint laboratory Sivalab (CNRS / UTC / Renault). Ali Charara has twice been a member of the National Committee for Scientific Research (2000-2003 and 2008-2012).
