The Archimede project : the Marseille Institute in Mathematics and Computer Science [MinMaCS] has been selected for the call for bids « Laboratoire d’Excellence » (LabEx) of the national state, program « investissement d’avenir » (see the project).

The goals of Archimede are :
to strengthen inter-research units and multidisciplinary collaborations,
to increase international exchanges,
to develop skill transmission and technological transfer,
to improve the relationship between research and teaching within the university,
`
The body of the project is composed of five research units and an international conference centre :

LATP, (Laboratoire d’Analyse, Topology, Probability)
IML, (Institut Mathématiques de Luminy),
CPT, (Centre de Physique Théorique),
LIF, (Laboratoire d’Informatique Fondamentale),
LSIS, (Laboratoire des Sciences de l’Information et des Systèmes)
CIRM, (Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques)

All together these joint CNRS-University research units cover all researches in mathematics and computer science in Aix-Marseille University (AMU).
