The Nord Pas-de-Calais Research Federation in Mathematics comprises the following laboratories :
- The Lens Mathematical Laboratory (Laboratoire de Mathématiques de Lens LML, Université d’Artois - Equipe d’Accueil 2462)
- The Joseph Liouville Pure and Applied Mathematical Laboratory (Laboratoire de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées LMPA, Joseph Liouville, Université du littoral - Equipe d’Accueil 2597)
- The Laboratory of Mathematics and its applications (Laboratoire de Mathématiques et Applications LAMAV, Université de Valenciennes- Equipe d’Accueil 4015)
- Paul Painlevé Laboratory (Laboratoire Paul Painlevé, Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille - UMR 8524)

The research thematics covers a major part of the range of Pure and Applied Mathematics : Differential Analysis, Harmonic Analysis, Complex Analysis, Differential Equations, Operator Theory, Complex Geometry, Algebra, Number Theory, Algebraic Geometry, Dynamical Systems, Differential Geometry, Algebraic Geometry, Singularity Theory, Mathematical Physics, Combinatorics, Category Theory, Probability, Statistics, Numerical Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, Mathematical History.

The aim of the federation is to bring together all researchers in Mathematics from the region. It is concern with the following topics : regional scientific life, formation (master, doctorate), recruitment, international cooperation, documentary resources.

The federation is recognized by the French Ministry of Research (Educational and Technical Research Department (DSPT1) of the Scientific, Technical and Educational Mission (MSTP)) and the CNRS.
