Composition

The National Committee for Scientific Research includes over 1,000 national and international experts. Members are either appointed or elected; a little more than half of them are CNRS personnel.
Members participate in the following governing bodies: - 30 members on the Scientific Board (CS)
- 240 members (24 x 10) among the 10 Institute Scientific Boards (CSI)
- 861 members (21 x 41) among the 41 sections
- 105 members (21 x 5) among the 5 Interdisciplinary Commissions (CID) Members are elected by and from CNRS staff and people contributing to its activities. They belong to electoral

    • All permanent CNRS staff and personnel working in CNRS-associated research units (representing over 60,000 people) belong to electoral colleges.

Each governing body of the National Committee for Scientific Research (CS, CSI, sections and CID) has a Bureau with five members: a President, a Scientific Secretary and three Bureau members. The Bureau is responsible for preparing the work of plenary sessions.
