COVID-19: launch of an international survey on the loss of smell and taste
Many patients with Covid-19 experience a loss of taste (ageusia) and/or smell (anosmia). More than 500 researchers from 38 countries have therefore joined forces to study this phenomenon within the Global Consortium for Chemosensory Research (GCCR). French laboratories and organizations1 invested in the GCCR will have their efforts coordinated by Jérôme Golebiowski, a Université Côte d'Azur professor at the Nice Institute of Chemistry (CNRS/Université Côte d'Azur) and director of the CNRS ‘Odorant-Odeur-Olfaction’ research group. Today the consortium is launching a major international survey in the form of a short questionnaire (available in more than 20 languages) aimed at current or recovered Covid-19 patients. The scientists' priority is to evaluate the frequency and nature of ageusia and anosmia cases among those affected, compare them to other pathologies and initiate a medium- and long-term follow-up.

Participation in this survey is voluntary and takes about 10-15 minutes. The data will remain completely anonymous and will be stored on secure sites. Please note that this survey is not intended to establish a diagnosis and does not propose a treatment.
