François PougetDeputy CEO for Resources

François Pouget has served as the Chief Resources Officer of the CNRS since January 2026.

An economist by training, Pouget is the holder of a doctorate in economic sciences, and is a specialist in the management of public organisations. He began his career in 2008 in the budget department of the French Ministry of Finance, where he worked on public deficit forecasting, and later on funding for transportation policy. In 2012 he became the director of the higher education and research office, where he oversaw the allocation and implementation of public funding for the sector, in collaboration with major operators such as universities and research organisations.

In 2014 he joined the Centre for International Cooperation in Agricultural Research for Development (CIRAD), a public research organisation focusing on agricultural issues in the Global South. He served there for seven years as the Chief Resources and Provision Officer, where he supervised all management duties (budget, human resources, technical resources), and also coordinated the activities of CIRAD establishments in metropolitan France and French overseas territories.

In 2021, he became the Secretary of the Samu social in Paris, a public organisation providing aid to the most disadvantaged, where he managed support operations – finance, human resources, information systems, logistics, and administrative organization - for its field activities.

Missions

The chief resources officer works alongside the President to implement the organization's administrative and financial policies. He is in charge of developing human resources and research support initiatives. To this end, and in close cooperation with the chief research officer, he draws on the know-how of the CNRS Institutes.
